I admire whimsical and dark aesthetics. I love watching people celebrate holidays to their fullest potential. Grand decor, massive feasts, beautiful rituals. Here i sit in all of my glory. We hid a few eggs for my son today. I did no beautiful rituals during Ostara or Easter. I feel like an utter failure. I also battle with which one to celebrate. Less is more but more is entertaining as well and I just dont know anymore…..
This last week between the severe flooding all around me, buying tons of new chickens, and trying to spring clean, I damn near forgot the damn holidays… I have got to get better at sitting down and planning stuff but brain says ‘nahhhh do other stuff instead’. Chaos at its finest.
Holiday Chaos
We know as normies the holiday is chaotic as it is. The multiple family gatherings, purchasing tons of crap for commercialisms sake, ungrateful screaming children everywhere. Its a goddamn nightmare. And for those of you who have angelic children who allow you to enjoy your holidays and are sweet and grateful…. well ill be nice and just say congratulations. My feral raccoons are a nightmare. My nightmares, and I love them to death, but nightmares none the less.
On the witchy side, you add on the altar dedication, the rituals, the decorations around the house, the extra spell work and studying, etc, etc, etc. If you have a normal functioning brain maybe you are able to accomplish this alright, but for me its like adding Tannerite to a volcano. I know I need to do it, but getting it done is a completely different battle.
Forgiveness in The Craft
Now with all that said, let me tell you that how you practice is completely okay. You do not need to be ashamed of not doing everything right. Your path is about YOUR intention. You dont have to have the fanciest altar or the biggest feast. You dont have to dance naked under the full moon and chant in foreign tongues. It doesnt have to take days of dedication and worship and such. If you have the energy, do the extra ritual, do the extra decorating, do the little dances. Just dont beat yourself up about not getting it done either. Celebrate the holiday how you feel it needs celebrated, not just based on what you saw in Practical Magic.
Time And Effort
It has taken me so long, with so may stops to play roblox and check facebook to get this blog out. So if you have stuck around for the ride, thank you so much. I am hoping to start dedicating more time to my craft and myself soon. I need to reach my earnings goal of 100$ a week to start out. Fingers crossed we can figure something out soon. Sorry this blog isnt as long as normal, its Chaos as always between the holidays and all my new pets and plants. This homestead thing is going nuts and I love it. So again, thank you so much!
