Sacred Seasons and Harsh Realities

Its so hard to celebrate such sacred and beautiful holidays when reality is such a cruel and awkard place. Its the time of year for my favorite holidays. Mabon, Samhain, and Yule. Finances are drained. The kitchen sink is full every day. 15 school events a week including daily dress up themes. Followed by a toddler who refuses to take his Halloween costume off.

But instead of celebrating I find myself drowning. My 12 year old family dog passed suddenly, my sister was diagnosed with inoperable cancer that’s already spread, and I haven’t even begun Christmas shopping yet. Its Just one blow after the next. Yule celebrations? At a complete standstill. One of these days Ill start prepping early for these holidays so its not as stressful during the event. But I am here to tell you that just because life is hard, we cant let ourselves disappear during these wonderful times. We can and will make it through it.

Keeping Rituals Simple

Holding space for yourself can be a wonderful distraction. A simple candle rituals. Quiet meditation. Dedication to your space or yourself is all you need. Your craft does not have to be youtube worthy intricate. You don’t need to spend days setting up for all your rituals. I will never be able to preach this enough. But I will also say that the energy you put into a spell is what you will get back. You cant pour from an empty cup though. You have to refuel and refill yourself. Stir some intentions into your cup of coffee or tea. Release pent up energy in the shower by imaging the water rinsing away the negative.

Fighting Off Failure

Just because you haven’t had large intricate parties and day long rituals for your holidays does NOT mean that you failed. The Gods (or high powers) see you. They see your struggle. They see your resilience. They see your dedication. Let honesty be your offering. Sit with your deities and just talk. Don’t just ask or demand things. Give yourself to them not just material things. Remember that some seasons are for mourning and not always for transformation. This has been a season of fear, hope, anger, prayer, and exhaustion all tangled together. A season where faith isn’t aesthetic or neat….it’s raw. It’s whispered. It’s sometimes just sitting in silence because words don’t feel strong enough.

If you’re walking through something similar, please know this: struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing spiritually. It means you’re human.

Feeling The Seasons

If you find yourself sitting here, feeling like the weight of the world has knocked you down with me, just know we arnt alone. The Wheel of the Year turns regardless of if we are ready for it or not. Some seasons are more soft than others. For now, I’m choosing to meet this season where it is — cracked, heavy, and real — and trust that even here, something is still quietly growing beneath the surface.

Thank you for being here, and for giving me the space to share this part of the journey.

Blessed be 🖤
