Mabon Mayhem…. Or is it Monday?

A lit yellow candle and a small candle sit on a dark cloth with a geometric design. Various stones, including crystals, are arranged around them, creating a peaceful setup for a ritual.

t’s that time of year—the Autumn Harvest has finally arrived!
My day has been spent chasing a naked toddler and battling piles of dishes. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d even have time to light a candle today.

For the past few days, I’ve been flipping through my spell books, searching for different Mabon rituals, and two really stood out to me. So today, I’m sharing five easy ways to celebrate Mabon—even when life feels like total mayhem!

K-I-S-S: Keep It Simple, Sweetie

Light a candle.

This holiday, to me, is all about letting go of what didn’t work out and welcoming in what you want to bring into the future.
Sit with your candle for just a few moments.

  • Exhale everything that didn’t go as planned this year.
  • Inhale all the things you accomplished and want to carry forward.

For me, my biggest exhale is realizing I haven’t been the present mom I want to be. I’ve spent way too much time on my phone, trying to escape everything swirling around in my head, and not being fully there for my kids.

My inhale? That despite the chaos, I’ve been working my ass off for my family these past few months—and I’ve been diving deep into my mental health journey. That is worth celebrating.

Involve the kids

This one is a favorite of mine from 1001 Spells by Cassandra Eason. (This is my super-summarized version—I highly recommend checking out her book for the full ritual!)

You’ll need:

  • A large empty bowl
  • A bowl of nuts, berries, or both
  • A handful of leaves (gathered outside with your kids!)

Sit in a circle and take turns holding a leaf.

  • Speak into the leaf what didn’t work out for you this year, then drop it into the empty bowl.
  • Go around the circle until all the leaves are gone.

Then, grab the bowl of nuts/berries and repeat the process—but this time, speak into each one what you want to take forward with you into the coming months.

When you’re done, scatter the contents outside to release that energy back into the world.

Bake it in

Who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls or a cozy simmer pot?
While cooking or baking today, sprinkle some cinnamon into your dish and say:

“Sweetness and balance flow into my life.”

BOOM. Instant kitchen witchery with zero extra steps.

The Researcher

If you’re totally out of energy (like me, most days), this is your sign that learning counts as celebrating!

Light a candle and spend a few minutes scrolling through articles or videos about Mabon rituals and history. You don’t have to dedicate hours to it—just offering your curiosity and time is a meaningful way to connect with the season.

The Nature Path

Finally, one of the simplest ways to honor Mabon: go outside.
Take a walk, explore your yard, or wander through the woods if you have access to them.

Pause to really see and feel the season shifting—the leaves, the breeze, the scent of fall creeping in. Touch the earth, give thanks for all you’ve received this year (both the good and the lessons learned), and let nature guide you in whatever way feels right.

A Final Few Essentials

If you really want to get into the nitty gritty/ of it, here are a few thing you can use!

  • Leaves
  • Carnelian
  • Cirtine
  • Agate
  • Jasper
  • ANYTING ORANGE/YELLOW
  • Clove
  • Cinnamon

Remember, you do NOT have to have a Pinterest perfect altar to perform your craft!

And Now, I Leaf You…

Whether today felt super magical or you barley made it off the couch, remember:

Mabon is about BALANCE. Finding those quite intentional moments of magic amid the chaos of our every day lives.

Light that candle, sip that tea (or adult beverage), or even breathe deeply and know that even the smallest rituals can be powerful. Thanks again for following along!
